Explore the forests and meadows of the Eno Valley as we wander through the variety that constitutes the vibrant world of plants. We will experience many folk uses of plants throughout early American history, and discover how local wild plants shaped the stories and lives of people through time.
This class offers students the opportunity to experience the diversity of wild plants that grow right under their feet. Experiencing these plants through tastes, smells, touch, and stories helps the student to develop a deeper appreciation of the surrounding plant life. This class helps students develop observational skills that have been used for centuries to discover, identify and enjoy wild plants. Topics also include plant science, forest ecology, folklore, and North Carolina history.
