Quest Camp

Let the hills of the Eno River Valley be your home.
Let the Earth guide you on a quest for adventure.

Older campers with an interest in camping and earth skills are invited to join us in an enriched program of connection to the earth. By creating and inhabiting our own village in the woods at Penny’s Bend Nature Preserve we will gain a deeper connection to ourselves, each other, and the natural world.  We will focus on natural shelter building, traditional fire-making, camp fire cooking and (of course) having plenty of fun!

Quest camp will focus on building trust and community within our group, as well as empowering each individual camper to know him or herself more deeply through the forest experience. To provide this opportunity, campers will spend Tuesday and Thursday nights at Penny’s Bend Nature Preserve.

In the spirit of a vision quest, we will challenge and inspire one another to find ways to deepen our connection to the earth.  The camp will culminate in an optional “solo” overnight experience.  The solo venture gives the camper a unique space in which to experience his or her own greater potential while staff stays close by to ensure each camper’s safety.  This is an amazing and transformative experience for young people interested in the natural world.

Activities may include:

• Making and sleeping in a primitive shelter
• Fire-craft - flint and steel and friction fires
• Bark baskets
• Team challenge games
• Awareness games
• Making wooden bowls
• Tracking and stalking
• Walking and wading adventures

You must provide your own sleeping bag.
