Sensory Plant Walk

Enjoy this walk as we touch, taste, and feel our way through the forest. We will use simple shapes, textures, and colors to identify the plants of the Eno, and to discover how people have used them in their everyday lives.

Have you ever tasted wild black walnuts? Have you run your fingers over the bark of the Pine tree and the Cedar tree? Do you know how to paint with flowers and seeds? During the Sensory Plant Walk the forest and meadow plants come alive through our senses. Students have the opportunity to begin to get to know the plants that grow around us every day!

The class includes:

  • Smelling, touching, and tasting plants
  • Observing shapes and textures
  • Examining plant parts
  • Games that help us cultivate our observation skills
  • Plant Paints
  • Plant stories and more!

This class has a packet of online resources available for download. Use these resources as preparation to bring your group to our program, or as followup after your day at the park.
