Spring Turtle Camp
March 19-23
In Native American teachings, Turtle is the oldest symbol for planet Earth. Some of the qualities of the turtle are patience, self boundaries, self reliance, navigation, and connection with center. In Turtle Camp, our theme is that of going deeper, getting to know more dearly this earth we walk, and getting to know ourselves in Earthplay. Turtle also symbolizes community, and so through art, music, cooking and play, we devote ourselves to better getting to know others. You don’t have to be experienced, you just have to be willing to experience.
Spring Otter Camp
March 26-30
The spirit of playfulness fuels this exciting week of camp, offering campers a unique opportunity for cooperative play in the outdoors. Far from the world of electronic toys and games, we will invent our own ways to have fun in nature. Games will be used as a means to build creativity, imagination, and Earth awareness. Otter Camp can help campers develop interpersonal skills such as teamwork and leadership.
Spring Earth Camp
April 2-6
Earth Camp celebrates the natural beauty of, and the lessons to be learned from the natural world. By focusing on the four elements - Earth, Air, Water, and Fire - we foster the connection within ourselves, to each other, and with the Earth. There will be activities such as Lodge time, animal tracking, games, construction with natural materials, fire-building, and “Walk-about” and all-day adventure along the banks of the Eno River.
Spring River Camp
April 9-13
Spring River Camp is inspired by the fun, folklore, and magic of the living Eno River. This week the river will become a hallmark, a guide, and a companion for us all. We will explore the banks and riffles of the river, seeking out the large and small creatures that inhabit it. We will sing songs, tell stories, play games, and embark on adventures that celebrate this incredible river. Along the way, we will discover lessons from the past, present and the future of the Eno. Each day will be a rollicking adventure along the banks of the river and in the wading creeks, so bring your water shoes, your knapsack, and your sense of discovery.
All Spring Intersession Camps will be held at West Point on the Eno Park, 5101 North Roxboro Road, Durham, NC 27704.
